Legislative Update 12-6-19

December 6, 2019

Dear Friends:

Congratulations to our local company, Wabash Communications in Louisville, for receiving an investment from the USDA of $12.8 million to help expand internet access to Wayne and Jefferson Counties in our area. Learn more here.

I was unable to attend the press conference in Springfield, but my colleagues spoke very clear about the urgency of ethics reform and our willingness to go back to the Capitol immediately for a Special Session to address this serious issue. (view the video here.)

This week I learned of the scheduled closing of GSI in Flora on January 31, 2020. I’ve been informed that those who wish to stay with the company will have the opportunity to find a position at one of the other facilities here in Illinois. (Learn more here.)

If you are a farmer interested in the IL Dept. of Ag ‘Cover Crop’ Program you can leaner more by clicking here.

And if you are a student looking for scholarship opportunities for college, there is are $2,000 Conservation Scholarships available through the IDNR. You can learn more here.
